1992 'J' Rolls Royce Silver Spirit III, Rolls
Royce development car, chassis number 003, Full Service History
stunning vehicle with a very interesting history which we sold
approximately 3 years ago to a local elderly enthusiast who has bought a
number of vehicles from ourselves and is now offered for sale on his
Silver Spirit III was introduced in August 1993 with many revisions over
the the Spirit II model, over £30 million being spent on development of
the engine to increase performance and improve fuel economy utilising a
new Bosch engine management system together with the GM4L80 4 speed
automatic gearbox. This car is built to Spirit III specification and was
registered in June 1992 by Rolls Royce and retained by the company until
January 1994 for "engineering appraisal". We have a letter from Rolls
Royce to this effect which also states that the car was subjected to
"constant maintenance and inspection" up to it's first scheduled servicing
which began at 27,600 miles. This is therefore a "pre-production" Spirit
III and we assume from the chassis number that it was the third car built.
has now covered just 61,000 miles with an excellent up to date service
record which shows previous services at 29066, 35921, 36749, 37050, 37380,
main dealer service March 2001 with mileage omitted, 40385, main dealer
service May 2005 with mileage omitted, 49266, 51480, 54827, 56220, 58530
and 59271 miles, all servicing carried out by Rolls Royce or marque
specialist. In addition to the fully stamped service book we have a
collection of other documents relating to the vehicle and full MOT history
from VOSA to further corroborate the relatively low mileage.
originally secured this car from the 94 year old RREC member who very
reluctantly parted with the car due to failing eyesight. The car has
obviously been the gentleman's pride and joy, always garaged and used
mainly for RREC club meets, the car being photographed at Harewood House.
The car drives very sweetly indeed and everything works exactly as it
should, a total joy to be behind the wheel. The paintwork also impresses,
finished in a most attractive colour with a deep lustre and free from any
major blemish, this really is a most eye catching vehicle.
